Home guard booked for blackmailing, extorting money from constable

Ghaziabad: A woman working as home guard with UP police has been booked by Ghaziabad police for allegedly blackmailing a head constable in after taking his obscene photos and videos.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Pooja Verma, a resident of Vrindavan enclave in Vijay Nagar area in Ghaziabad.

Vijay Singh, head clerk in UP Police and currently posted in Modinagar police station said in his complaint that the accused had taken Rs 6.3 lakhs as a loan but when victim asked her to pay him back, she always told him a new date.

"First she took Rs 1.5 lakhs for the treatment of her child and after some time she returned Rs 20,000 only and assured the victim that she will return the remaining money soon. On January, 2019, she called Singh at her house saying that she is not well and offered him a drink laced with sedatives. When he fell unconscious she captured few obscene photos and videos and started blackmailing him," read the complaint.

"Later she forced him for the court marriage and then demanded Rs 5 lakhs to buy a plot in Ghaziabad. She she promised the victim that she will return his money within a month but she doesn't," the report further said.

Now the woman has started threatening victim and also refused to pay him back. The victim also came to know that the woman made fool of a few other persons in the same manner.

Umesh Bahadur Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of Sihani Gate police station said that on the basis of complaint, an FIR has been lodged against the woman under section 406, 328, 420, 386 and 389 of IPC.

"Police investigation is underway and soon police will record the statement of the accused," he added.
