Hockey player shoots himself dead in car

NEW DELHI: Rizwan Khan, a 22-year-old hockey player allegedly shot himself dead outside his female friends' house in Sarojini Nagar on Tuesday morning.
According to Rizwan's family, he took around Rs 2 lakh in a bag before leaving house on Monday night. Since then his phones were switched off. Rizwan's body was found in his swift car in GI-block of Sarojini Nagar in a pool of blood by his family members when they were searching for him from Subhash Nagar to Saraojini Nagar at around 10: 20 am on Tuesday.
"Since one of his main numbers was switched off, he dialled on his alternate number, this was picked up by a girl. Initially she didn't reveal any details about Rizwan, but on our insistence, gave her address in Sarojini Nagar. When we came to her house, she handed over the bag of cash and the phone. However, she said she had no idea about where Rizwan has gone," said Rizwan's father Sharif Khan.
When Rizwan's brother started looking downstairs he found their car parked at some distance. As he rushed to the car he was shocked to see Rizwan's dead body into it. "His car was parked with Rizwan's dead body," said Rizwan's brother.
"A bullet injury was found on the right temple of the dead body. A team of CFSL and FSL experts including ballistic and biology division were called at the spot. District crime team was also called at the spot and inspection was done. From the inspection of the site, and taking into account the circumstances prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide," said DCP South Romil Baaniya.
The police have now started proceedings under 174 crpc and the body has been sent for the post mortem. The police might also question the female friend to know the exact reason for his alleged suicide.
Both Rizwan and the girl played hockey together and that's how they came in contact with each other."Rizwan did not leave any suicide note and took the money from his father to buy a bike," DCP said.
