Heroin worth Rs 40 cr seized, two held
NEW DELHI: Special Cell of Delhi Police has seized 20 kg of high-quality heroin and arrested two men named Mohammad Shahid and Irfan Hussain. Mobile handsets and SIM cards used in the drug trafficking activities and one Eicher Canter used for transportation of contraband has also been recovered from them. The heroin is worth about Rs 80 crores in the International market.
Special Cell of Northern Range has developed specific information about Refaquat, a kingpin and drug mafia of Fatehganj area in Eastern Bareilly, UP. He along with his other active associates procures contraband drugs from Najael Haque from Malda, West Bengal and transports them to Delhi and UP through his carriers.
The two key members of this cartel are identified as Mohd. Shahid and Irfan Hussain who, later, arrested after the police laid a trap at Bhlaswa in Delhi on October 1.
Two packets of contraband, fine quality heroin weighing 10 kg (5 kg each packet) were recovered from the backpack bag of Mohd Shahid. Further, upon the instance of Irfan, the lock of a fixed cavity, made near toolbox of Canter, was opened with the key produced by him, from where a bag containing two packets of contraband fine quality heroin weighing 10 kg (5 kg each packet) were recovered. In total, 20 kg of fine quality heroin was recovered from them.
Shahid told that Refaqat used to hand over a locked bag containing huge money which is to be kept inside secret cavity designed inside the truck or canter cabin, while another lock is put up on that secret cavity.
"The carrier deployed by Refaqat used to hand over the locked bag with its key to his source at Malda. Within few minutes, the source at Malda takes away money from it, packed it back with the consignment of drugs, lock the same and hand over the key and bag to the carrier for delivering the same to Refaqat. Refaqat is still at large," said ACP Special Cell
