Health Minister and CTI distribute kits to women

New Delhi: On the occasion of International Girl Child Day, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain in collaboration with women council of Chamber of Indian Trade & Industry (CTI) distributed 500 baby kits to women who gave birth to baby girls on Friday. The health minister visited Aruna Asaf Ali Govt Hospital and distributed kits to 15 women, whose baby were born at 12 am on Friday. The kit includes essentials such clothes, blankets, towels, diapers, lotions and soaps, toys, socks, fruits. Women in different government hospitals were provided with such kits.

Speaking to the Millennium Post, Aam Aadmi Party MLA and CTI Convener Brijesh Goyal said, "The initiative was taken keeping in mind internation girl child day and how it is important to celebrate the birth of a girl."

Kits were distributed by different teams placed in government hospitals. "This is the fourth time that we have distributed such kits. The Delhi government has helped us in providing such kits, by promoting the initiative and giving us list of different hospitals and the patients who delivered a baby girl," added Goyal. Each kit cost Rs 800, while the funding was raised by CTI. Girls born after 12 am on October 11 were listed for the distribution of the kits. Hospitals such as Lok Nayak Hospital, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital were part of the distribution process.
