New Delhi: After a brief chase, a Delhi Police head constable successfully nabbed a 32-year-old criminal in Shahdara district on Saturday.
Police said that one of the two accused, that head constable Akash and constable Ashish of Shahdara district were chasing near GT Road, had fired at the duo. The incident came to light when the two cops found three men with helmets loitering near Shyamlal College with a bike.
DCP (Shahdara) Nupur Prasad on Sunday said that when the cops moved to interrogate them, the accused tried to slip away. During their escape, one of the accused – while running towards Welcome – turned around and fired at Akash.
"Akash managed to grab the third accused before he also could escape. On interrogation, he revealed his name as Anwarfrom Meherban, and disclosed names the other two as Ehsaan and Meherban, residents of Kairana," said Prasad.
She added that the motorcycle used by the accused, which was found to have been stolen in January, was recovered.
