HC stays order upholding DUSU president disqualification
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday put on hold its single-judge order upholding the Delhi University's (DU) decision to disqualify the candidature of DUSU president Rocky Tuseed. A bench of justices Sanjiv Khanna and Chander Shekhar stayed the order till August 29, the next date of hearing. The court also asked the varsity to produce the original records pertaining to disqualification of Tuseed, whose tenure will end in two weeks.
Tuseed was disqualified on September 6, 2017, for not disclosing in his nomination form for Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) polls that disciplinary action was taken against him for assaulting a student in his college. This order, however, was put on hold by the high court during the pendency of his plea challenging the varsity decision and he had gone on to become the president of DUSU.
