Haryana imposes Section 144 to prevent gatherings
Gurugram: The Haryana government on Friday decided to impose Section 144 of the CrPC in urban and rural areas of the state which restricts the gathering of 20 or more people at one place, a government statement said.
The decision was taken as a precautionary measure to check the spread of coronavirus, it added.
However, the permissible gathering in Gurgaon and Faridabad will be restricted to five persons only, it further said.
After conducting a high level meeting, Mohammad Akil, the Gurugram Police Commissioner has ordered to constitute "Special Task Force" in each police district of Gurugram in fight against Coronavirus.
This task force in each district will comprise of SI (2), ASI (2), Head Constables (4) and 20 constables and will be headed by an Inspector rank officer. Each member of this force will be provided with masks, sanitisers and other essential equipments.
This task force will guard the Quarantine Centres and Isolation Wards in addition to maintenance of law and order at these centers. Task force of traffic police will be responsible for smooth flow of traffic outside the quarantine centres and isolation wards.
Preparations are also underway also for the janta curfew that will be observed on Sunday. To maintain law & order in the district while the 'Janata Curfew' is in place, 39 Duty Magistrates will be deployed across Gurgaon district on Sunday, with 6 more being kept in reserve. The curfew is supposed to be in place between 7 am & 9 pm on March 22. It has also been decided that the operations of Haryana Roadways will be suspended on Sunday.
