Haryana CM to visit Gurugram on Sunday

Gurugram: At a time when the public administration in Gurugram is facing severe criticism from all quarters due to inept handling of rains on Tuesday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is likely to visit the city on Sunday.

He will be in Gurugram to flag off various projects like the Gurugram city bus services and construction of six-lane Dwarka Expressway.

There is a possibility that he will speak about how Gurugram once again collapsed with a few hours of rainfall.

It is ironic that at a time when Gurugram residents are facing the crisis due to extreme rainfall, the Chief Minister is expected to be in the city to start the much-delayed city bus service.

As it is, the blame game has started between the agencies where the Gurugram administration has sent a notice to National Highways Authority of India on the issue of how various underpasses got completely inundated with water.

After 2016 fiasco where over 55 millimetres of rainfall had resulted in a traffic jam for more than 18 hours, the Haryana government expedited the development works at Delhi-Jaipur highway with the construction of underpasses and flyovers. This time, however, sources indicate that there will be more emphasis on the quick construction of Badhahpur Drain which has been delayed due to various complexities.
