Haryana CM Khattar accentuates on smart, sensitive & mobile police force
Gurugram: A day after National Security Advisor (NSA), it was the turn of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to address the young superintendent of police officials.
The Chief Minister asserted on the police becoming smart, sensitive and mobile in its functioning. Just like Doval, Chief Minister Manohar Khattar too affirmed the importance of how the police officials were important in the functioning of the Indian democracy as it was responsible for the implementation of laws. The 65-year-old leader highlighted that while the tenure of political representatives was temporary as they could be elected or rejected by the voters but the role of the officials in the executive was permanent.
Invoking India's first Home minister Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel's words the Chief Minister described the Indian bureaucracy as a steel framework in democratic India. Highlighting that the police was a reflection of the government, the Chief Minister asked law enforcement officials to present its friendly and sensitive image.
For this, the Karnal MLA also emphasised on the importance of community policing wherein the communication between the law enforcement officials and the citizens should be improved. Expressing regret that it could not be held due to the fears of Coronavirus, Chief Minster Khattar said that the Gurugram marathon was just one such initiative.
"The police are the reflection of the government and the way police acts or behaves with the citizens creates their judgment about the government. Now if the police behave badly chances are that the average citizen will not say anything to the police because he would fear the law enforcement officials but that anger would, in turn, be directed towards the government," said the Chief Minister.
He also encouraged training and aspirations among the police officials and highlighted that his government tried to make sure that certain forms of hierarchies in the police system was removed.
