Haryana Budget: Investments galore for Millennium City

Gurugram: Being the richest district of the state, Gurugram found a mention in all major investments announced in the fourth Budget presented by the Manohar Lala Khattar-led Haryana government.
This being the last full fledged budget before the state goes for assembly elections next year, investments in skill development among the youth, higher education and innovative practices in field of agriculture were the other highlights of the budget presented by Haryana Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu.
With job creation being a major political issue, it was highlighted by the minister that major skill development centre will be set up in Gurugram.
Subsequently, after imparting of skill, he also mentioned that the applicants may be applicable for burgeoning industrial units in the city.
Criticising the state government recently, Dushyant Chautala of Indian National Lok Dal had said that even though Gurugram had 17 lakh jobs, the Haryanvis are left out of this growth story.
There was also a major focus on enhancing the infrastructure for higher education. It was stated categorically in the budget that a medical college will be built.
Besides opening of two government colleges in arts and commerce streams, a university for design will also come up.
The state Finance Minister also proposed to increase the budget for urban local bodies Gurugram metropolitan development authority and the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram.
Increasing the expenditure to more than 51 per cent, agriculture got a lion's share of the budget.
In the context of urban areas of the state that also included Gurugram, the government in its official financial document entailed investments in horticulture, animal husbandry and urban dairy farming.
Among other factors, there were also sizable investments in building the road infrastructure, especially around the Sohna-Palwal route, affordable housing and power. There were also plans to further digital infrastructure.
Pegged at Rs one lakh fifteen thousand crores, the largest ever budget for Haryana was presented on Friday by Captain Abhimanyu.
It was mentioned that not only the state ranked first in ease of doing business but also the gross state development product grew impressively in the financial year of 2017-18.
However, the Minister emphasised that the objective of the government is to ensure not only growth for the state but to ensure sustainable and inclusive development.
