Handful of officers observe silent protest

NEW DELHI: Despite the IAS officers back to work after their 'strike', against which Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was on protest at the LG's office, a few officials maintained their distance in the division commissioner's office as well as the New Delhi District office.

However, all principal secretary level officials participated in meetings with the concerned ministers a Delhi Secretariat on Wednesday.

The IAS Officers Association, in fact, has maintained that the officers were never on "strike", although they had been avoiding going to meetings called by AAP ministers, following the alleged assault on Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash at the Chief Minister's residence in February.

According to sources, officials at the Division Commission office at 5 Sham nath Marg and New Delhi District official on Wednesday observed a silent protest during lunch.

This protest was also seen in the wake of the alleged assault on the Chief Secretary.

Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Tuesday wrote to the Chief Ministerm asking him to meet officers urgently to address concerns of both sides through dialogue.

Baijal shot off the letter to Kejriwal in response to his deputy Manish Sisodia's communication, in which the latter had asked for a meeting between the government and bureaucrats to end the impasse.

The Chief Minister's meetin with IAS officials is reported to take place once he returns from a 10-day trip to Bengaluru.
