Gurugram school killing: Accused's bail plea denied

Gururgam: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of a 16-year-old who is accused of murdering a seven-year-old boy in a private school in Gurugram in September last year. On May 21, the Gurugram District and Sessions Court had said that the accused, a Class 11th student at the same school, would be tried as an adult.
Ever since the shocking incident of Prince being murdered brutally in the washroom of the school came to fore, the case has witnessed various twist and turns. Initially the Gurugram police arrested a conductor Ashok Kumar in the case and gave the theory that he slit the throat of class II students after he was unable sexually exploit him. Not impressed by the Gurugram police claims, the family of the seven-year-old continued demanding for a CBI probe. After constant pressure, the government finally allowed the CBI to take over the case.
Even after the CBI taking over the controversy did not end and the legal team of Barun Thakur protested after the school allowed opening before the CBI taking over the case. The shocking claims, however, came after the CBI charged a juvenile for the murder of Prince and gave that the act was committed so that the exams and subsequently the parent teacher meeting is postponed. He was eventually arrested on November 8 and since then he has been in the custody of law enforcement officials.
On February 5, the CBI presented a preliminary chargesheet where it indicted the class 11th student of murdering Prince in the washroom of the Ryan International School, Bhondsi on September 8 last year. The premier investigating agency has registered the accused under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
