Gurugram police to teach school kids about good and bad touch
Gurugram: Police has once again started the awareness session on POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences) for school students.
These sessions are carried out by Women Police officers of Gurugram police along with practising lawyers to help children of class 8th and 9th to understand about sexual harassment against children, how to report and also about helpline and prevention.
These sessions will also carry out workplaces to sensitise women about sexual harassment at workplaces and their rights relating to the same.
The session is being carried out to make sure that the students are aware of any forms of exploitation which they are subjected to not only in the school but also in the home. There have been instances in the past where a sweeper, a schoolteacher and a bus conductor have been arrested in a separate incident for sexually assaulting the girls.
There is often a fear that crime in these cases often goes unnoticed as the awareness levels in such cases have been very low.
Not only schools but Guugram Police also want to renew its programme of spreading awareness for working women who are subjected to sexual harassment by their male peers.
Harassment when at official duty hours often comes to bite the Gurugram woman professionals who are employed in a large number in Millennium City's workplaces.
On average, there are 40 such cases that get registered annually in City Police stations.
In 2017, there were reports of how a woman professional in an MNC resigned after she alleged that her firm did not take any action against a senior who physically molested
her. Highlighting the challenges, some of the women professional when speaking to Millennium Post said that rather than being more brazen in molesting now the culprits are resorting to online abuses. To tackle the issue of domestic violence and eve-teasing, Gurugram Police officials have donned the role of counsellors.
