Gurugram Police nab fraudster for posing as Amazon representative
Gurugram: The Cyber Cell of Gurugram Police apprehended a fraudster on Tuesday for impersonating a representative of Amazon and manipulating unsuspecting individuals into opening bank accounts under the guise of securing jobs.
The police received the information about the criminal through a complaint on Monday at the Cyber Crime Police Station.
The accused was identified as Shahrukh, resident of Mallahka village, Nuh district, Haryana, however, the accused was apprehended from Bansi Chowk, Manesar.
According to the police, the investigation unveiled a sinister technique employed by the fraudster Shahrukh who would masquerade as a representative of Amazon and offer unsuspecting labourers and job seekers counterfeit job offers.
Subsequently, he manipulated his victims into opening bank accounts using their Aadhaar and PAN cards.
These accounts were then exploited for various cyber fraud activities.
It was further discovered that the suspect had successfully deceived and opened fraudulent accounts for a total of 10 individuals using this deceitful scheme.
During the arrest, law enforcement seized one mobile phone from Shahrukh’s possession, which is expected to be a crucial piece of evidence in the ongoing investigation.
