All steps taken by the State Government seems to yield no result as Gurugram continues to languish at the bottom in government registration of pregnant women.
In the latest Government data for March, Gurugram has reported only 56.7 percent placing it higher to only Nuh at 43.9 percent.
Further, while Nuh has shown remarkable improvement in its figures from 38.2 percent to 43.9 percent, the registration statistics for Gurugram has dropped from 57.8 percent to 56.7 percent.
Even though it has seen a slight dip, its neighbour Faridabad has also fared better than Gurugram with a score of 63.9 percent.
With 90 percent registrations, Jhajjar has topped the list of registration of pregnant women followed by Hissar at 88 percent and Kaithal with 87.3 percent.
In order to prevent cases of female infanticide in the state, the Haryana Government is keeping an official record of pregnant women.
Besides providing certain Government benefits, the main objective is to reduce the female infanticide cases and improve the sex ratio.
With the view of keeping a track abortion of females, the Haryana Government has encouraged pregnant women to register themselves with the State Government.
Under this initiative, the government has even utilised the services of Aanganwadi workers.
In the Millennium City, more than one thousand Aanganwadi workers are being used for registration of pregnant women.
Haryana that has been tagged for skewed sex ratio showed a remarkable improvement with 950 females for 1000 males.
However, Gurugram which is one of the richest cities in the country in terms of per capita income per individual continued to have a skewed sex ratio of 893 females for 1000 males.
"Not only are female infanticide cases are reported from the poor households but also the middle-class households indulge in the punishable act," said sources.
