Gurugram DCP's office had no power supply for two years

Gurugram: In a bizarre case, to defend the allegations of power theft, a senior police official has mentioned that the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) was functioning without power for more than two years from 2012 to 2014.
The statement by the official came during the explanation provided to Haryana Lokayukta.
The official mentioned that the office at Sushant Lok was functioning without fans, air conditioners, coolers and even light in the given period.
There have been allegations that the DCP's office was functioning on the power that was stolen.
The information came through an RTI application filed by social activist Harinder Dhingra.
In what can make the matter worse, it was later found that the other senior official who replaced the officer was able to utilise power in the office. The next hearing in the matter is slated to be held on May 24.
This is not for the first time when the Gurugram police has been accused of being on the wrong side in context of power consumption. Last year, there were 17 Gurugram police officials who have been found guilty of power theft in the city.
The illegal act of the city police officials was revealed after a surprise raid conducted by the vigilance department of state electricity board in the Police Lines area. It was later found that most of the electricty metres were tampered so that they can provide the wrong reading.
