Gurugram bus stops in shambles, poor maintenance to blame

Gurugram: Most of the bus stops that have come up in several parts of the Gurugram, in the name of new bus service, are facing the problems of maintenance.

In the past, there have already been complaints of how petty robbers were successful in stealing the new benches and boards that were installed in the new bus stops. But this situation of law and order was not enough as most of the bus stops, especially in the older areas of Gurugram, have already been defaced by putting a lot of posters. There are also complaints that how these bus stops are being used as a place for illegal parking where autos and two bikes are being parked.

Even as the bus stops are being set up on major roads, the apathy over its maintenance still persists. The lackadaisical approach adopted in the maintenance is now resulting in these areas not only being used to dump garbage, defaced by putting local advertising posters but also being used by addicts and drunkards to indulge in open drinking and consumption of drugs. Moreover, owing to its challenges most of the people have stopped using these bus shelters.

It must be noted that in order to improve the public transportation in the city, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has started Gurugraman bus service. The officials claim that not only there will be a world-class bus service that will be provided but also there are adequate facilities that will be set up at the bus stops.
