Gurugram bans construction from Nov 1

Gurugram: It has now been two days since the air of Gurugram, which is listed as the second most polluted city in the country after Ghaziabad, is under the severe category.

The deteriorating air quality has forced Gurugram administration to ban all constructions from November 1 to November 10.

Earlier, the district administration had also stated that all steps will be taken to phase out the diesel vehicles that are 10-years-old and the petrol vehicles, which are 15-years-old. Though, certain measures have been introduced to tackle the air pollution, challenges still abound in plenty for the public agencies.

Shortage of mechanized sweeping has resulted in dust being wiped off through broom, a process which has proved to be counterproductive from the city roads.

The challenges however for them get heightened because of inadequate infrastructure in form of lack of parking spaces, pollution under control (PUC) centers, public transport, and effective waste segregation system.

While the ban on crackers this Diwali also is getting implemented in Gurugram, pollution from construction materials, roadside dust, and vehicular discharge are major reasons for spiraling levels of air pollution in the city. There has been a lack of PUC centres in the city.
