Gun running racket busted, 17 sophisticated pistols seized

A team of Special Cell, Southern Range, was having information about illegal activities of arms syndicate led by Khazan Singh. Manual surveillance was mounted to develop information about Khazan Singh and members of this syndicate. Police teams were sent to Burhanpur, Sendhwa, Khargone and Khandwa to track the movements of members of this syndicate. Secret sources were deployed to gather more useful information.

After more than two months, a specific information was received on March 25 that Khazan Singh who used to procure illegal arms from Khandwa and further supply them to Delhi, Haryana and UP has received a big consignment of pistols. He was on his way to Delhi to deliver the consignment of weapons to criminals in Delhi and Western UP. Informer further told that Khazan Singh has fixed rendezvous near Nafed building, Ashram Chowk, Delhi between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm. Police team swooped in and arrested. Seventeen sophisticated weapons alongwith 10 spare magazines were recovered. A case under appropriate sections of law has been registered at police station, Special Cell, Delhi.

"Khazan Singh was subjected to sustained interrogation and he disclosed that he used to receive supply of pistols from a person who is a resident of Khandwa. Khazan Singh told that the said person was engaged in manufacturing of illegal weapons in Signur of Khandwa and further supplying them to Delhi and adjoining states," said DCP Special cell, PS Kushwaah. Khazan Singh met an arms supplier when Khazan was in the jail in a murder case. After coming from the jail on bail, he started working as carrier of illegal arms from Madhya Pradesh to Delhi, UP and Haryana for that person.
