Greater Noida double murder: Woman's son apprehended

GREATER NOIDA: A 15-year-old, the prime suspect in the murder of his mother and minor sister in Gaur City-II residential complex in Greater Noida West, was apprehended on Friday evening from Banaras, police said.

"The arrest has been made from Banaras district upon raids at various suspected locations by Gautam Buddh Nagar police," investigating officer Ajay Kumar Sharma said.

"Based on the CCTV footages provided by the society, we suspect that the son of deceased woman had played a key role in the murder, as he was the only one to exit the flat. After he left, no one had exited or entered the flat," Sharma told reporters.

The double murder of Anjali Agarwal (41) and Manikarnika (10) had taken place on Monday night. The incident came to light after Anjali's husband asked his relatives to check on his family, as they were not answering his calls.

A police team was sent to the spot and broke a window pane to enter the house, only to the mother-daughter duo lying dead on the bed.
