Gr Noida Authority seals building near site of accident

Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Authority has sealed a six-storey building in Shahberi village and issued a notice to its builder to demolish the structure within seven days, after it got tilted on Saturday and was on the brink of collapsing.

The building is located adjacent to the twin buildings which collapsed on July 17.

According to a senior official of Greater Noida Authority, the action has been taken after it was found that cracks were developed on one of the pillars of the concerned building.

The structure has also got tilted due to the cracks and is on the verge of getting collapsed.

A senior official of the Authority said, "We received a complaint that the columns of the building were damaged and had developed cracks. The developer had covered it with metal sheets in order to hide them. A team of the Authority officials, along with police, reached the village and sealed the building on Saturday evening after vacating the flats.

"We have also asked the families living in the nearby area to evacuate their house as a precautionary measure" he added.

The official further said that a notice has been issued to the builder JP Heights, in reference to the matter.

"A notice has been issued to the builder to demolish the building safely in next seven days else the authority will carry out the demolition drive and the builder will bear the expense," the officer added.
