New Delhi: Soon, Delhi Police will have more personnel at its disposal as more than 3,000 new posts have been approved for the law enforcement agency. In an order, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs sanctioned more than 1,000 police personnel for two districts and another 2,000 policemen for the 15 police stations including eight Metro police stations.

"There will be 75 posts for Inspector rank official, 335 posts for sub-inspector (SI), 310 posts for assistant sub-inspectors (ASI), 858 posts for head constables (HC) and 1,560 for constables," the order copy claimed.

Among the new 3,000 police personnel, 45 inspectors, 214 SI, 208 ASI, 614 HC and 1,014 ct are for the six territorial, one railway and eight metro police stations.

The proposed posts would be created in four phases instead of the proposed three phases. Further creation of the posts will be considered only after the deployment of 3,139 personnel on the ground.

The remaining posts will be considered after a thorough review of the working of Delhi Police keeping in view the impact of deployment of personnel recruited in the first phase.

For this, existing police stations may be revisited for categorization and the staff strength may also be reassessed and redistributed on the basis of the general norms for creation of posts.
