Govt-run JNVs, KVs perform better than private schools

NEW DELHI: Government-run Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas have performed far better than their private counterparts in the CBSE 10th results released on Tuesday. JNVs have got a pass percentage of 97.31 while KVs have got 95.96.
Meanwhile, the independent or private schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have got 89.49 pass percentage. The CBSE 10th Class results have been released on the official websites cbse.nic.in and cbseresults.nic.in.
According to the data released by CBSE, government schools registered with the CBSE have a 63.97 pass percentage while government-aided schools have 73.46 pass percentage. In CBSE Class 12 results too, Kendriya Vidyalayas gave the best results among different categories of schools affiliated to the CBSE with a pass percentage of 97.78, as opposed to 95.86 last
year.
While private schools had the lowest pass percentage with 82.50, the overall pass percentage for Class 12 was 83.01 as against last year's 82.02.
CBSE declared the Class 10th result on Tuesday and out of the total 16,24,682 candidates who appeared for the exam, 86.70 per cent students qualified the exams and Thiruvananthapuram region topped with 99.60 per cent qualified candidates. 1,86,067 students have got a compartment. This accounts for 11.45 per cent of the total candidates appeared for the CBSE Class 10 exams.
This year, four students topped CBSE Class 10 exams scoring 499 out of 500.
The toppers are Prakhar Mittal from DPS Gurgaon, Rimzhim Agarwal from RK Public school Bijnor, Nandini Garg from Scottish International school Shamli, and Sreelakshmi G from Bhavan Vidyalaya, Cochin.
Girls have done better than boys by 3.35 percent. Girls have a pass percentage of 88.67 while the boys have 85.32. The total number of candidates who have secured more than 90 per cent and above is 1,31,493. And 27,476 students have secured more than 95 per cent.
