Govt likely to develop mandis

NEW DELHI: Delhi government is likely to come up with a plan to develop the mandis of Delhi. In the recent budget, there has been a special allocation of fund for this project. Around Rs 100 crores will be allocated for the development of Delhi's markets, decided by the government. This will reduce the burden on the Azadpur Mandi and will reduce traffic congestion due to vehicles directed towards Azadpur in north Delhi.
"We will identify the need of different market and likely to form a team who will do that work," said an official. The government will also give different facilities to different markets. "Many markets have no proper toilets and lack in other facilities too. We will want to ensure all those facilities," the official added. "Recent sealing drive has already hot the Delhi traders a lot and the Delhi government always wanted to set up a proper infrastructure for the markets," said an official.
In the development plan, the government will mainly focus on the infrastructural development.
