Gold worth over Rs 1 cr recovered

New Delhi: Customs officials have arrested six people at IGI airport for smuggling gold worth more than Rs one crore. Investigation in the case has revealed that they have been involved in smuggling foreign currencies, gold in the past.

According to Customs, the six Indian passengers had arrived on November 12 from Dubai. They were intercepted by customs officers at IGI airport after they had crossed the green channel. Additional Commissioner of Customs, Amandeep Singh, said that during their personal and baggage search seven gold rods crudely given the shape of kada weighing 3,312 grams were recovered.

Singh further said that the value of the gold was Rs 1.14 crore.
