Godman held for sending lewd messages to woman

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday arrested a self-styled godman from an ashram near Ramleela Maidan, for sending indecent messages to a woman on the pretext of finding her a bridegroom.

Police said the accused, identified as Ravi Giri, a resident of Bihar, was hiding in the ashram to evade arrest, as the complainant only had clues about his location.

Cops said that the woman's parents had been influenced by the accused, after which they took her to him to find her a groom. Soon, Giri started chatting with the girl and started sending her obscene messages and videos on Whatsapp.

Based on her complaint, Giri was later arrested.
