GNIDA CEO assures home buyers of strict action against truant builders

After waiting for years to get their flats, a contingent of Home buyers in Greater Noida West met the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), Amit Mohan Prasad on Tuesday to express their grievances.

They raised questions to the CEO regarding the incomplete and sick realty projects of various builders such as Skywalk, Amrapali, Today homes and Earth
Infrastructure which is affecting lakhs of homebuyers.

They informed the CEO that despite being promised the delivery of flats within three to four years, they are still in the queue.

They complained that they had booked the flats seven to eight years ago when 90-95 percent of the amount was paid.

After giving a patient hearing to the issues raised by the delegation, the CEO told them that he will address the home buyers' grievance.

Also, he stated that some of the builders were indeed acting in a very wily manner and assured that he will conduct meetings with all such builders within next one week.

"The builders will be reminded about the need to uphold their agreement with the buyers. If they do not mend their ways, strict actions will be taken against them," said the CEO.

The meeting was led under the banner of Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA) where the representatives of various buyers' groups raised questions over the actions taken up by the authority against such builders. However, no builder representative was present at the meeting.

"We met the CEO of GNIDA and expressed our concerns of being ignored in Real Estate Regulation and Development Act (RERA).

Though the new buyer will be benefitted in the act but what about the future of old buyers?" said Indrish Gupta, President, NEFOWA.

He also stated that they are more concerned about the future of over two lakh home buyers who are still to get the possession of their flats.

"These buyers are going through financial hardships as they are bearing the dual burden of EMI and rent.

We have already brought this matter to the attention of the authority several times in past, but it seems like our words have fallen on deaf years.
In the meeting, we raised questions to the CEO regarding the proceedings followed by the authority against the absconding builders who have left the construction work stagnant at their sites over past few months.

If serious and early actions are not taken by the authority against such builders, we will again approach CM Yogi and will lead a much serious protest against the Greater Noida authority then" added Gupta.
