GMDA to soon get integrated command and control centre

Gurugram: With the objective of making Gurugram a smart city, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has begun preparations.
In one of the first steps to achieve the objective, the public agency is planning to set up an integrated command and control centre at its headquarters.
The project that is expected to cost more than Rs 100 crores will allow officials to inspect major services like street lighting, CCTV camera functioning, traffic management and water supply.
There are also plans to install 55,000 LED streetlights.
Some of it has already been installed in areas like Golf Course Road and Cyber Greens area.
However, a major complaint that is often received from residents of the Millennium City is that despite the installation of street lights, most of them are non-functional.
With incidents of snatching also on rise in the city, the grievances of the non-functional CCTV cameras have also been raised. According to GMDA officials, the control centre will enable them to rectify major defects in a time-bound manner.
There are also plans to make the traffic lights in the city automated that will aid to better management of the traffic.
The officials also hope to improve the services of erratic water supply by the functioning of this centre.
