Girl still in trauma, family shuns Raksha Bandhan

New Delhi: The festival of Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated with zeal in the country, but there is no happiness in the family of nine-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted in Rangapuri Pahari area on Wednesday. While talking to her father, the kid still remembers her predator and then starts crying.

Talking to Millennium Post, the 30-year-old father stated that last year she was very happy on the day of Raksha Bandhan and celebrated it with her younger brother.

"In 2017, she wore new clothes, ate foods, played with her brother and then slept, but in 2018, there is no rakhi in her brother's hand as he is also having the fever whereas his sister is still in trauma," the devastated father said.

He further added that after the incident, her mother has sleepless nights and remains quiet. "He is very bad he will catch me, the words she spoke about the accused. My daughter is not eating her food properly and crying, as a father I am hapless," he said.

On Friday, about 500-600 people of the cluster of Rangpuri Pahari protested and blocked both the carriageways of Chhatarpur Mahipalpur road, demanding justice in the rape case of the minor girl. They started pelting stones on the police party and the vehicles of public were trapped in the traffic jam. Total 11 persons were arrested in the case.

The father stated that he had no role to play in the protest as his daughter was in pain and he did not want to leave her. "I am not involved in such kind of incident," father said. The family owns a small shop through which they run their house.

"I have not met my other children after the incident, I am continuously in hospital whereas my son is having the fever and also there are some people who are unhappy with me as I did not support them in the protest," he said.

According to DCP (South West), Devender Arya, meeting has been held with representatives from Rangpuri Pahari area. "They have assured full cooperation. Situation is peaceful now. Force deployment will continue as a precautionary measure," the DCP said.
