Ghaziabad woman held for husband’s murder, alleges yrs of domestic abuse

Ghaziabad: A 32-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday night for allegedly killing her husband at their residence, with the accused claiming she had endured nearly two years of physical abuse and humiliation.

According to police officials, the incident followed a heated argument between the couple at their home. During preliminary interrogation, the woman alleged that her husband frequently assaulted her and subjected her to degrading treatment, adding that the abuse had persisted for the past two years and intensified in recent months.

Police said the argument escalated, after which the woman allegedly attacked her husband, resulting in his death. She later alerted the police, following which a team reached the spot and took her into custody.

“The accused has confessed to her involvement during questioning. She has alleged prolonged domestic violence. We are verifying her claims and collecting evidence,” a senior police officer said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Police teams are also recording statements of neighbours and relatives to understand the history of disputes between the couple.

Officials added that they are checking whether any prior complaints of domestic violence were filed. “Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation,” the officer said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and further details are expected to emerge.
