Ggn denizens take to streets after 6-9 hr power cuts

Recently, the DHBVN had announced that it will be unable to provide 24 hours of electricity to the residents of the Millennium City. But, the residents did not expect such a major power cut and following this, they came down on the streets to protest against the long duration of power cuts in their area.

Also, soon before this, the residents of Ardee city in Gurugram protested against the builder and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) on the issue of long duration of power cuts in their area.

On Monday residents of South City came on streets agitating against the same.

Raising slogans against, DHBVN, the residents highlighted that how long duration of power cuts was creating difficulties for them.

"Today you have a situation where there is power cut for more than six hours in the area. It is not only creating widespread discomfort to citizens in this intense heat but even the daily domestic activities are getting affected. Most of the households in Gurugram today run on water pumps. When you don't have power, your pumps do not function. Therefore today we have a situation where we neither have neither power nor water," said Ram Naresh Yadav resident of South City -2.

He also stated that all this while, the DHBVN claimed that it will improve the supply of power in the city. "DHBVN is just not being able to cope with summers but also even a slight rain results in a long duration of power cuts in our area," added Yadav.

While various parts of Gurugram may be reeling under long duration of power cuts, the situation seems to be worse on the outskirts of the city. Areas including Manesar and Sohna have reported over nine hours of power cut. Following this, the residents of Sohna have launched their protest against the same.

In the recent schedule released by the city electricity board, DHBVN stated that there will be minimum two hours power cut in Gurugram in order to tackle with increasing load and line loss.

"I have been a resident of Gurugram for more than twenty years and each year there have been only claims but no action. Today the residents have to be concerned about paying their power bills but also be worried about high bills that come to them because of consumption of generators," said Surrender Arora, a city resident.
