Ggn cops not taking any chances on Jat agitation

As the suspense remains over mass Jat agitation in Delhi on March 20, the Gurugram cops are not showing any signs of complacency over the matter.

While Gurugram has been left out of the Jat protests, the Gurugram Police is a keeping a close track of the situation in the city.

With the sections of the city having a large population of Jats, the Gurugram Police is in constant touch with the Jat leaders in the city urging them to maintain law and order.

However, sources in Gurugram Police indicated that with Jat protests now extending to Delhi, more caution and planning will have to be done by the officials to deal with the unrest.

"The proximity of Delhi to Gurugram does make a difference. After all what is happening in Delhi will be seen very closely by the people of Gurugram and therefore now as there are plans to extend the Jat protests to Delhi, the Gurugram Police will have to be more vigilant," said a senior Police officer.

"There have been two symbolic protests by the Jats that have occurred in the city. This has been peaceful. The Jats in Gurugram have been law abiding and have been peaceful in putting forward their demands, "said the senior Police official.

Meanwhile, with the massive protests expected to be organised by Akhil Bhartiya Jat Sanghash Samiti on March 20, the State Government have also started talking to various Jat leaders.

Ram Bilas Sharma, the education minister of Haryana stated that the State Government has agreed on the list of major demands put forward by Jat leaders.

Sharma further stated that it was agreed upon the protests by Jat leaders in Delhi will be called off.

However, Yashpal Malik, the Jat leader who is spearheading the movement said that there is a list of outstanding issues and the mass protest by Jats in Delhi will be held on March 20.

Meanwhile, in the national Capital, Delhi Police on Thursday stated that they have not given any permission for the agitation.

Police also said they will not hesitate using force if the protestors are seen flouting rules or creating disorder.

The holidays of the police force also stand cancelled till further orders.

Commissioner of Police Amulya Patnaik held a meeting with special CPs (Law and Order), Joint CPs, DCP and SHOs of all police stations and ordered them to firmly handle the situation.
