Ggm's shopping malls, bars closed till Mar 31

Gurugram: A day after the district authorities directed the IT firms in Gurugram to let their employees work from home, more measures were brought in by the government agencies to spread the contagious virus.

Notifying the COVID-19 under Epidemic Disease Act, 1897, the District Magistrate in Gurugram suspended various commercial activities in the city till March 31. The DM directed that operations of all shopping malls barring pharmacies and medical establishments, grocery stores, and supermarkets will be suspended as well. A warning has also been given that violation of these order will result in the person being penalised under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code

It was also officially notified that all the operations of night clubs, lounges, pubs, bars, and multiplexes were also suspended. It is important to note that an unofficial order fo the closure of the restaurants was already being followed in the city. There were reports that on Tuesday evening Gurugram district administration forcibly evicted people from Gurugram cyber hub and shut 76-night clubs including 31 from the cyber city. The other night clubs are located in sector 29, golf course road, Sohna road, and MG road.

It was also officially stated that any gathering such as social, cultural, political, religious, academic, sports and family mass gatherings including marriages is restricted to a maximum of 50 persons.

Directives have also been sent to owners of saloons, beauty parlours, and grooming centers and private cabs to decontaminate and sanitise the premises and ensure the availability of hand sanitisers.

There are over 1,250 suspected cases in the city. On Tuesday the district authorities also cleared the air on the testing facilities in the city. The government officials clarified that the test is not being conducted in any laboratories in the city and the samples that are being collected are either being sent to Delhi or PGIMS, Rohtak.

Taking cognisance of the Aanganwadi centers that were functioning in some parts of Gurugram, the district administration also made sure that these centers were shut down.
