GDA demolishes 8 illegal constructions in 4 zones

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on Tuesday demolished 8 illegally constructed and unauthorized buildings in four different zones of the city. The GDA has been demolished a total 25 illegal constructions within twelve days in September, said the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of GDA.

According to GDA officials, the demolition drive was conducted in Kavinagar, Sahibabad Loni and Modinagar zones of GDA on Tuesday and two illegal constructions in each zone were demolished by authority's enforcement team.

"The GDA team demolished two illegal and unauthorized construction in Mahendra Enclave, Sahkari Nagar under Kavinagar zone, two unauthorized constructions were demolished in house no. C-4 and C-21 in Shyam Enclave under Sahibabad zone, two illegal boundary walls were demolished of plot no.B-36 and B-89 Ankur Vihar, under Hayat Colony under Loni zone and two unauthorized constructions were demolished at Sara Road Govindpuri under Modinagar. The drive could not be further intensified due to lack of police force because of Chief Minister's visit to the city on Tuesday. However, the drive will continue and demolition actions will be taken against such illegal constructions" said V K Singh, OSD, GDA.

The GDA is focused on carrying out their extensive demolition drive of unauthorised buildings. Former Vice Chairperson of GDA, Kanchan Verma, who has been just appointed again as GDA VC also directed officials to continue the demolition drive and take stringent actions against those who have pursued illegal construction at their buildings.

Kanchan Verma was on official leave for an year from September 2017 and had gone to Kings College London for further studies. Ghaziabad District Magistrate Ritu Maheshwari was given extra charge of GDA VC in her absence. Verma has completed her one year of studies and had joined back services last week. She was again given the charge of GDA VC by the government. She was expected to take charge as GDA VC on Tuesday however due to some reasons she could not join.
