Gangster of dreaded Naveen Khati gang held after 8 years

New Delhi: The eight years long run from the law finally came to an end for the gangster who was arrested from Shyam Vihar near Dwarka. Police claimed that presently, the accused was working as a cab driver with Mega cabs by adopting the name of his brother Kapil Yadav and was carrying the cash reward of Rs 25,000 which was declared by Commissioner of Police (Delhi) on his arrest.

The accused was identified as Narender, a gangster of dreaded Naveen Khati Gang of South-West District of Delhi. He was wanted in a murder case of Najafgarh police station in the year 2010 in which he along with the gang leader, Naveen Khati had shot dead one Pradeep Kumar in village Mitraon which resulted in the start of a gang war between Naveen Khati and Ravinder alias Bholu gang.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ajit Kumar Singla stated that the accused after the murder committed by the accused, the gang war claimed more than a dozen lives till now. "Narender was on the radar of both, the police as well as the rival gang. Sensing the threat to life, Narender deserted his home and kept on changing his hideouts in Delhi and NCR," said Singla.

He further added that after some time, he took the name of his brother Kapil Yadav and again started working as the cab driver. Further, to lend credibility to his new identity, he married a widow who had three adult sons. "This way he befooled his neighbours by acting as a family man. He was closely following the trial of the murder case. In 2017, when his associate Sombir was arrested by Crime Branch, he became cautious and chose to live in a remote residential colony of Sham Vihar, where nobody knew him," said police. To avoid communication with neighbours, he came home late in the night and left early in the morning. The arrest was made by the IGIS team of Crime Branch which is under DCP Bhisham Singh and the team was led by ACP Aditya Gautam.
