Gurugram: A dreaded gangster was arrested by Gurugram police in an encounter late Tuesday night, who has 12 cases of heinous crimes registered against him.
There was a great pressure on the Gurugram police to get hold of the accused, identified as Tillu, of late as he was the main accused in orchestrating a shooting in Badshahpur area on March 13.
A husband and wife were shot at allegedly by his henchmen, which resulted in the death of the husband, identified as Anand.
Anand was an eyewitness to another shooting incident that occurred on February 11, where the victim, identified as Vijay, was saved by Anand.
The attack on Vijay is also believed to have been carried out by Tillu.
Tillu's arrest was no less dramatic, as he was nabbed after a brief exchange of gunshots between his associates and officials of the Crime Branch of Gurugram police.
The encounter occurred late Tuesday night in the Sector-18's commercial area and led to Tillu receiving bullet injuries in his leg, while members of his gang managed to escape. He was later rushed to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for treatment.
According to the police, a special team of Crime Branch was formed to nab Tillu after a tip-off of his presence in the city was received.
After ascertaining the location, barricades were placed at Sector-18 for the arrest. After seeing the gangster coming with his colleague on a bike, a police official signalled the vehicle to stop.
In order to escape, his colleagues began firing at the officials. In retaliation, police also fired back and were successful in getting hold of their target.
