Gang targeted morning walkers, nabbed
NEW DELHI: The Inter-border Gangs Investigation Squad, Dwarka of Crime Branch, has busted a gang of robbers and arrested four members of the gang including the gang leader Mangal Singh who is involved in dozens of cases of robbery, snatching, auto theft from all over India and was declared Proclaimed Offender in six cases of Haryana, Tamil Nadu.
Total 12 cases of snatching and autotheft of Delhi have been worked out with the arrest of the criminals. Four country-made pistols, eight live cartridges and two stolen motorcycles used in the crimes have been recovered from the possession of the accused persons. The accused have been identified as Mangal Singh, 26 years, Ram Avtar 23 years, Rakesh 23 years and Rajender, 27 years.
All the arrested criminals belong to Jhinjhana area of Shamli District, UP and are school dropouts. The gang leader Mangal is a desperate criminal and is previously involved in scores of cases from various states. "They take rooms on rent in the city and stay there only for a few days and leave the place after committing a series of crime. After that, the criminals used to proceed to their next destination and flee away from there after committing crimes. In this way, they managed to avoid their arrest by local police," said DCP Crime Bhishm Singh.
The accused persons mostly targeted the morning walkers, women bringing their children from schools and the women coming home after late night jobs. During interrogation, the accused persons admitted their involvement in several incidents of snatchings, robberies, with passersby in different cities all over India.
