Gang making fake Aadhaar busted

New Delhi: Investigation by Delhi Police has revealed that fake Aadhaar cards are being prepared for Rs 500 in north Delhi's Shastri Nagar area, where cops busted a racket and claimed to have recovered 52 fake plastic Aadhaar cards, with names of different persons, and 400 partially completed cards.

Police on Friday said the arrested accused included Vikash Kumar (27) and Sushil Kumar (25).

From them, they have recovered fake rubber stamp of District Magistrate East, one signboard mentioning "Govt. Authorized Center of Aadhaar Card" and other important documents. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Vinit Kumar said the police made the arrests on June 26 after they received a secret information about the illegally-run Aadhaar Card centre in North District.

"Constable Mahender was sent as a dummy customer to shop number 1572, B-Block in Shastri Nagar with 'request' to change the address in his Aadhaar card. He went to the shop and gave Rs 500 for the purpose. In the meantime, a raid was conducted and the arrests were made," said Vinit Kumar. During the interrogation, accused Vikash Kumar disclosed that he started his shop at Shastri Nagar in 2013 which offered services like Photostat, Scanning and Aadhaar Card. After complaints of fake Aaadhar cards being prepared, preparation of Aadhaar cards in the premises of authorized private firms was banned in 2017.

"He started preparing PAN Cards in his shop. Due to a sudden decrease in his income, in January 2018, accused Vikas Kumar and his associate Sushil contacted one private firm, NICT, authorized to prepare Aadhaar cards, and were hired as data entry operators in SBI Branch, Green Park. They were given a user ID and password for making Aadhaar cards," police said.

After that, both the accused took all the equipment used for making Aadhaar card from SBI, Green Park Branch, and started preparing cards illegally.
