Gang fleeced people on pretext of providing maids; busted
New Delhi: Delhi Police on Saturday busted the 'Bhagam-Bhag gang' from west Delhi's Nihal Vihar and Mukundpur area, who were involved in cheated a large number of people on the pretext of providing domestic maids.
Cops said that the arrested accused have been identified as Kajal (18), AM Bahadur (22) and Mukesh (25).
Explaining the gang's modus operandi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Monika Bharadwaj on Sunday said that members used to contacted victims in need of domestic maids, then go to their houses along with women who posed as maids, obtain a security amount between Rs 20,000-25,000 from the victims and leave the maid at the house.
"After one-two hours, the maid would also abscond from the residence of the victims. The accused were running six fake placement Services," said the DCP.
She further said that on August 30, the complainant Dr Anup Kumar came to Janakpuri police station and lodged a complaint that he was cheated Rs 24,500 by one 'Sonam Placement Agency', having an office in Janakpuri, on the pretext of providing domestic maid. He was initially contacted by the gang through telephone and they agreed to provide him a domestic help.
"On August 29, an agent named Ashok came to the complainant's house with a maid Kajal, then took Rs 24,500 cash as the security deposit on behalf of Sonam Placement Service and left the maid Kajal at his house.
"After 15 minutes, the maid also absconded from the house and when the complainant came to the address mentioned on the verification form, the same was found fake," said the DCP
During investigation, cops found a similar complaint by one Rani Chaddha against the same accused persons with the same modus-operandi, but with a different fake placement Agency, named 'Manjul Maid Services'.
