NEW DELHI: Realising that selling software updates would not fetch them enough money, two men turned to burglary and started stealing computer shops in Nehru Place and selling the stolen hardware to scrap dealers of Meerut.
Personnel from Kalkaji police station arrested the gang of computer burglars, as well as the receivers of these stolen articles.
Police said the burglars were Ramesh Kumar Mishra (resident of Noida) and Shiv Kumar (resident of Pul Prahaladpur), and the two receivers of the stolen articles, Rashid (25, resident of Meerut) and Neeraj Tyagi (45, resident of Devli Road, New Delhi).
With their arrests, police solved three cases of burglaries in Nehru Place and recovered 16 HP laptops, 300 RAM cards, 23 internal hard disks and 18 fans from the possession of accused persons.
"Accused Ramesh Kumar Mishra and Shiv Kumar disclosed that they had been working in Nehru Place from almost 18 years and used to sell-purchase software and CDs. However, they were not able to earn enough money to meet their needs and, in order to earn quick money, they started stealing laptops and other computer articles," said Chinmoy Biswal, DCP (South East).
