Fringe groups shut meat shops in Gurugram during Navratra

NEW DELHI: Fringe elements under the banner of 'Hindu Sena' were seen walking the streets of Dundahera gaon of Gurugram in Haryana to force meat shop owners to close down their businesses owing to the commencement of 'Navratri', a seasonal nine-day festival observed as per Hindu calendar twice a year. This is not the first time such an attempt to thwart law and order by fringe groups was witnessed in Gurugram.

In the video, several men brandishing swords can be seen marching through the streets of Gurugram, unabated by city police. These men were reportedly trying to scare meat shop owners into closing down their businesses for the duration of the nine-day festival. Similar instances were reported from Gurugram last year where men carrying sticks and weapons threatened and in some cases, even assaulted meat shop owners in order to force them to pull the shutter on their businesses.
