'Free coaching gave me wings'

New Delhi: After the successful launch of meritorious scheme "Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana" last year, approximately 4,953 students have enrolled for the coaching facilities to various courses so far, out of the proposed target of 5,000 students in a year.

Manisha's career made drastic improvements due to this scheme. Manisha, who hails from Delhi, took up free coaching classes under the 'Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Yojana' in 2018 while looking for coaching classes to prepare for Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB). "Some of the coaching institutes that I went to were charging Rs 20,000 a month. I knew I could not afford it." She went to the Sachdeva Coaching Institute in Pitampura. "This coaching centre told me that for me it would be free because I belonged to SC group. I could not believe it."

She appeared for her Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) exams and passed with flying colours. "The history classes really helped me a lot. I was weak in it and I needed someone to explain it to me. The coaching helped me in reasoning practice too I wasn't bad at it but I needed a lot of practice."

Manisha who has been working since March 2019, said, "I cleard CTET Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan exam and then I went for my interview. I got a job after I cleared the interview as well. I got hired by the Defence Ministry and now I am posted in Jalandhar Cantonment and I earn Rs 60,000 a month after cut off. Along with my salary I get house rent allowance too and some perks as well. Now, I am a post graduate teacher and teach Accounts and Business studies to students of class 11 and 12 ."

It is pertinent to mention that "Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana" is a scheme for providing free pre-coaching scheme for SC/ST students to help them prepare for various examinations conducted by UPSC, DSSSB, SSC, Railway Recruitment

Board and other examinations of officer-grade conducted by banks and insurance companies and to prepare for medical and engineering pre-examinations.
