Four wanted criminals nabbed
Greater Noida: Following a brief encounter, four wanted criminals were nabbed by police from Dadri area of Greater Noida on Saturday night. Police said that all the four accused are gang members of dreaded criminal Anil Dujana gang and were wanted in an extortion case relating to a Dadri-based businessman. The gang was also planning a murder in the next couple of days, said police.
According to police, the arrested criminals were identified as main accused Supendra alias Bhoora, Mohit alias Rangeela, Mohit alias Poti and Sonu Valmiki. Police said that all the accused are natives of Dadri area of Greater Noida.
"On August 11, the accused had asked the owner of a medical store to pay them protection money of Rs 5 lakh. They had claimed to be members of Anil Dujana gang. However, when the owner, Pramod Kumar refused, the accused threatened to harm him following which Kumar had filed a case with the Dadri police," said Vineet Jaiswal, superintendent of police (rural).
The officer further said that the idea of extortion bid was given to the accused by one Neetu, who is currently serving time in jail for murder and is also booked under the National Security Act.
"The accused were looking to earn some quick cash. The idea of the extortion bid had been given to the accused by Neetu only. They had met him in jail while they were also serving time for a previous infraction," added Jaiswal.
Police further said that apart from the extortion attempt the accused had also been involved in an attempt murder in April.
"Supendra and his accomplices had shot his co-brother following a dispute. The man had survived and a case had been registered in this regard. The court trial of the case was going on and Supendra was trying to reach a compromise. However, the other party was not interested in that and following this Supendra was planning to murder him," Jaiswal added. Police also recovered three country made pistols from them.
