Four boys apprehended for beating 8-yr-old to death

New Delhi: An eight-year-old boy was beaten to death by other boys in Malviya Nagar area of South Delhi on Thursday, with Delhi Police claiming that four minors have been apprehended in the case.

The investigating agency said that the incident took place at a vacant piece of land in front of a madarsa in Begumpur, whose students – including the victim – were playing on the land.

However, some local boys objected to the madarsa students playing there, which led to a scuffle.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Vijay Kumar said that the victim, who suffered serious injuries, was brought to MM Hospital in Malviya Nagar on Thursday. However, he was soon declared dead by the on-duty doctors.

"The deceased boy, aged eight years, is a student of Madrasa Dar-ul-Uloom Faridiya, and is a native of Haryana. There was a scuffle between the madarsa students and a few neighbourhood boys (all minors) in the morning," said the DCP.

He elaborated that the victim was roughed up in the scuffle and fell heavily on the ground, which resulted in internal injuries.

A case under appropriate sections has been unregistered in the matter, said police.
