Four-bike-borne assailants rob Rs 19 lakh at gunpoint

Ghaziabad: Four bike-borne assailants robbed Rs 19 lakh from three employees of an electricity contracting firm at gunpoint in sector 6 of Vasundhara under Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad, on Tuesday afternoon. Police said that a case has been registered and they are probing the matter.

According to police, the incident took place at around 3:00 pm, when the three victims had come out of the bank after withdrawing cash and moved towards their office in a car. Four assailants on two motorcycles over took the vehicle and stopped them at a secluded place. They snatched the bag containing cash on gun point and fled away after injuring one of them with a blade.

The victims said that three out of the four criminals were wearing helmet. They saw the face of one of the criminals not wearing helmet.

The criminals also thrashed the three victims during the robbery attempt.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of loot and robbery.

"We are looking into the CCTV footage of the area to identify the criminals. We are not ruling out the possibility of the involvement of any known person in the incident. Teams have been formed to probe into the matter and we are likely to make the arrest soon," said Vaibhav Krishna, Senior Superintendent of police, Ghaziabad.
