Four auto thieves held in Noida

Noida: Noida Police on late Sunday night busted a gang of auto lifters, with the arrest of four men during a routine vehicle check near Sector-60 police station.
Police said that the gang used to steal bikes and cars from Delhi-NCR and sell them to a dealer in Nepal after changing the vehicles' chassis and engine number and producing fake documents.
"The accused told police that so far, they have delivered around 150-200 vehicles to Nepal, which they picked from Delhi-NCR. The chassis numbers they used belonged to accidental vehicles, while they produced the registration on their own," said Anil Pratap Singh, SHO, Sector-58 police station.
The accused were identified as Praveen Chaudhary (35), Ajay (28), Gaurav (25) and Bunty (23).
Bunty had joined the gang recently, while the others have a long criminal history and several cases against them at various police stations.
Police recovered 21 bikes, a car, two laptops, two printers and stamps of different vehicle registration officers from different districts.
"They mostly targetted costly sports bikes. Two of them would steal the vehicle against a profit of Rs 10,000 while the other two were assigned to prepare fake documents and sell it to the dealer in Nepal for Rs 25,000," added Singh.
