Four arrested for highway robbery
NEW DELHI: A team of crime branch has busted a interstate gang of highway robbers operating in Delhi, Haryana and UP and recovered four robbed Tata HYWA trucks and one Santro car used in commission of crime. The police have arrested two highway robbers Suraj alias Kamal, a resident of Baghpat (UP), 23 years and Anish, a resident of Bagpat, UP, 36 years. Suraj is known to be the gang leader. Two receivers of the stolen property were also arrested, Ajay Kumar alias Raju a resident of Alipur, New Delhi, 42 years and Imran, a resident of Meerut, UP, 26 years.
The team of crime branch, gathered the information that a gang of highway robbers lead by Suraj is operating from Bagpat, UP and is active in robbery and theft of trucks from highway and further disposed of the same in Sonipat, Haryana, and Bagpat amd Meerut in UP.
On interrogation, they disclosed that the gang is operating from Bagpat and Suraj is the kingpin of the gang and used his Santro Car for recce of the area or highway. Accused persons preferred night hours in commission of crime. They also disclosed that they used to sell or rent out the robbed or stolen trucks in the remote area of eastern UP.
