Forest officer falls on Metro track, crushed to death
New Delhi: In a freak incident, an elderly forest officer who was waiting to board a running train slipped and fell onto the track, and was crushed to death under the wheels at the Mandi House platform on Blue line at around 7:30 pm on Friday. Due to this incident, services were disrupted on the line towards the Dwarka from Mandi House. Moreover, services were restored after 8:03 pm, official added.
According to an CISF official, the deceased man was identified Vinod Kumar Pathak (54) working in Forest department (Field Officer) and resident of Varanasi fell under the approaching Metro train. The officer said that he slipped down on track from platform number-2 and came in front of metro moving toward Dwarka. "His head has been cut-off from his body," said a CISF official.
According to the Deepak Gauri, DCP Metro Police, the deceased was reportedly having an eyesight problem and was under going an eye treatment from a city hospital. CISF personnel and station controller reached the spot and his body was taken out form the track. Later, took deceased's body was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital by ambulance, the CISF official said.
