Food delivery boys complain about lack of sanitisation
New Delhi: Following the report of a pizza delivery boy testing positive for COVID-19, a few hundred delivery persons from Zomato and Swiggy sit tensed following at Cannaught Place. The workers have raised the issue of lack of sanitisation.
Ankur, who works for Zomato said that after this case they have been given some special instructions. "We all are working on a 14-hour shift and are visiting almost every place, even those which are sealed," he added. He said that even though restaurants are sanitised, they don't have any instruction from their company about safety per se. His colleague who was sitting at a distance said since the lockdown the load has decreased but they feel insecure. "We are about 200 people, both from Zomato and Swiggy here. We are keeping social distancing, however there is so arrangement of proper sanitisation for us," he added.
A small restaurant owner said even security guards who are traveling from faraway places are not checked. "Their temperature should be checked but that doesn't happen. Also, there is no sanitisation in the whole area," said the owner of a bakery shop near Block C.
