Follow passion, not money: CM tells engineering students
NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged the budding engineers to follow their passion, and not money. CM Kejriwal, who did his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT-Kharagpur in the 1980s, said students should not run only after money and top positions.
Addressing the new batch of students at Delhi Technical University (DTU) during the orientation day on Thursday, Kejriwal said that most people fall prey to the rat race and end up running after money. But on the contrary, not many people who run after money attain it, he added.
The CM said, "The more you chase money, the farther it will get from you. All the people who have made money in life did not run after money, rather they chased their goals and money poured by itself".
He further went on to state that despite boasting the fact of India being the largest democracy along with the highest proportion of youth, we as individuals should be well versed with the concept of 'democracy'. "Understanding politics does not necessarily mean that one should be involved or be affiliated to any political party. We should have the knowledge about our political system and also understand the importance of questioning any decision by any political party irrespective of our affiliation," the CM said.
Deputy CM, Manish Sisodia, who was in all praise of the new batch, said, "When someone from our colony gets through in JEE, our entire neighborhood feels elated and this hall is full of students who have cleared that exam. We are proud of everyone sitting here."
